How to see the Red 'MMI Info' screens Works with ALL A8s [and other Audis] with MMI 2G Press and Hold MMI 'Setup' button. Now press and hold 'Return' button. Wait about 5 secs. The red 'Current Config' should appear. This is a 'one liner' list of all the MMI ECUs in the car. They are all joined in an optical loop [aka MOST bus] and the 0x01nn numbers are the MOST bus addresses of each ECU. The list normally overflows the screen but just rotate the 'large button' to scroll up and down the list. The selected item is highlighted white. Press the large MMI button to see specific details of the highlighted ECU. You will see; SW-Number : Firmware level part number SW-Index : Firmware level SW-Date : The date that the firmware was produced by Audi HW-Number : The ECU hardware part number HW-Index : The ECU hardware version Most of the ECU device names are obvious: however, the Interfacebox is what is known elsewhere as the 'Control Head'. It is the MMI computer; its SW-Index is the MMI level of the sytem. Last Euro version 5570, last US version 4610, both dating from mid-late 2008. Note: two of the ECUs in the screen list are NOT updated by the MMI CD process! The Gateway connects the MMI system to other buses in the car and is not updated [and indeed, doesn't need to be]. The NavBox [Navigation drive in the boot] is updated by firmware on the Navigation DVDs [the final EU version was '1060' on the 2009 and later EU DVDs].
