    OK mj Craig again I've done starter motor I did put the small cable on the wrong terminal 15a instead of 50 anyway it turns over now�� but have this problem do you think it's cable adjustment or f125 switch https://photos.app.goo.gl/Mn2Q5fRhAb8GvSpn9. link to small vid clip

    Hi thanks erm yea it's a new starter motor and I can hear a clicking sound from my mdf foot panel not investigated yet erm? OK will dig deeper keep you upto date

    Hi mj Craig again �� question all is back in engine gearbox hooked up battery and all I get is no crank but battery light goes out battery is good also done the f125 switch checked gearbox gears with a scanner and on display on dash and all is well and in neutral I can move the car any ideas much appreciated and thank you for your help craig

    Hello thanks for the info also when I separate box from engine will I loose. Any fluid they both came out from front of car like your video as is the best way to do it I was going to go the hard route putting it back in new car but needs a clean in the any how plus space is limited in my garage and I've read your post love it so will do same putting back in ����

    Hi Craig,

    Did you split the cable at the join or unbolt it from the gearbox casing? If you split it then it will go back properly regardless of where the box or the shifter are now.

    If you unbolted it from the gearbox then you may need to re-adjust the shifter to suit the box as the bracket has about 4-6mm of adjustment if memory serves. If you leave the two bolts slightly loose when you put it all back together then the shifter will pretty much find its own centre so once the box is back in and the cable reconnected just nip up the two bolts and then check the shifter is selecting the right gears with VCDS. Should be fairly simple

    Hi mj hope you don't mind me calling you mj..... Craig here having read your post bout big red and to me it seems your the person to ask about major job of gearbox swap well my box died on my 2nd s8 but I keep box from my 1st wich I had for 3 years till box when into limp mode anyway got that sorted at cost of 2500 quid all parts replaced including torqe con.and so on any how the car got written off twice so I striped her all down kept every thing and I mean everything now the question when pulling gearbox and engine out the cable for selecting gear I did not know how to take off so I think I selected natural how do I tell what gear it's in while out of the car as I'm in the process of wanting to put the gearbox in my other s8 wich has gone Limp mode any help would be great
