Hello Dan. A fellow A8 Forum member suggested I contact you regarding some legal proceedings that I may need representation with in court. It concerns a sold vehicle and the DVLA prosecuting me for failing to insure it, despite the fact I'd sold it 5 months previously plus the new owner had it insured from the day of sale.

The correctly completed V5 document was sent off at the time of sale but the DVLA sat on it for 6 months and didn't record the change of details until mid August. The sale was on the 28th February.

The date of the offence (failure to insure) was given as the 10th June although how they picked this date escapes me as I'd cancelled my policy when I sold it 3 months earlier. Seems like an arbitrary date.

I disputed the £100 fine and despite presenting mitigating evidence they've decided to prosecute.
