Good strategy to have a fallback date +++ It's not as if our diary is full of social events...…..
30th/31st if fine with us, though all other things being equal (very unlikely) the earlier date is preferred. I think that's the weekend the clocks change and the weather is likely to be less pleasant than earlier in the month. |

I'm good with either date.
Coaching at the moment is dead. All the hotels are closing for the duration. In fact I've only done one job this year and that was hospital staff having a day out in Chester. Stay safe everyone. I popped into Audi Warrington on Friday, receptionist greeted me "With what are you doing out?" I told her "I don't have to isolate because I'm not seventy". |
 So which date is it? If Brian prefers the later date, I would have assumed that was the one. And, on the hotel bookings, do we need to book again and will they honour deposits?
|
I did try to make it clear that the alternative date was being considered in case people couldn't make the early Oct weekend and was trying to establish if, like Mark or Brian, it made a difference to those already signed up. It had been stated in the first post that the hotel would transfer booking without us having to individually re-book. This would be the case if we were to opt for the fall back date 30th/31st.
HOWEVER, like supermarket delivery slots, free space is going fast and if we are to look at the later weekend we need to know fast. So, Jim, is either date suitable for you or not? |
Yes, either date is good for me, but The Telegraph seems to think we won’t be let out by October: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-h...aign=DM1222875

Whichever date we finally decide on it will not suit everyone. I'm fortunate that I only have to think of myself.
The later date might well be the best when we consider that both Brian and Mark would have difficulty making the earlier one. But then the choice might well be taken out of our hands. I'm trying to organise my Army College Reunion in September and Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph but being careful that they could both be invalidated. Suppose I could play brass band music and walk round my bedroom. |
:respekt: Hats off to Brian and David! :mexicanwave: it’s hard enough organising a meet, without all the complications of a pandemic. It must be a nightmare.
