BI-Xenon: The clear plastic plate/Screen

Hi All.

For you that have BI-Xenon's; there is a plastic cover/clear screen between the bulb and the headlight front cover. This is prob for direction the light to the right place and so on(sorry for the extreme bad explanation)

Mine has turned a bit yellow and is not as clear as it prow was when new.

I cant find this part in ETKA.

Anyone experienced this or changed theirs for a new?

My option is to remove the whole thing...

Thanks:)

That part is responsible for directing the beam to the left or right, depending on country of use. If you remove it, your headlamps will have no beam pattern, and will dazzle oncoming traffic.

It is not available as a separate part, neither is the clear outer lens. It's a sealed unit.

According to " The Laird " they aren't a sealed unit.

I will be opening mine up in the near future to see if that lens can be cleaned and treated....

Will report back on my findings

These instructions show you how to dismantle the headlights on the FL cars, the same procedure works for BI-Xenon.

They are a sealed unit...you can bake them in the oven to soften the bond, and then carefully pry them apart, but they're still sealed. As in you couldn't buy an inner or outer lens from Audi.

No matter if they are sealed from the factory or not, they are easy to take a part without any prying. once all the clips are off the practically split them selves.

Is it possible to purchase the inner, or outer lenses?

I'd be interested to hear the answer to this, I've been grumbling to myself over the same issue. The internal lense appears to have "yellowed" a little over time. Could they be split and cleaned thoroughly I wonder? Would this make a difference... Here's a picture of mine.

Yes they can be split and cleaned. Done this to mine and it helped alot towards better light. What Nollywood means is that Its a sealed unit in the way that you can only purchase the complete headlamp.

I will prob remove the plastic plate for good. Met a guy recently that Had done just that and his lights was way way better.. i would hav thought this would be anoying for oncomming traffic, but we tested and did not find that the lights was a pita when meeting that car on a dark rainy road.

Anyways, i will keep the chrome look-alike on the bottom and around the drl's and just cut the square that covers lowbeam.

:)
