Loud central locking

Guys, any previous reports of noisy central locking on facelift D3s???

My mate has 56 plate diesel and I have 06 plate petrol.

Mine one was like that since I remember.
Locking unlocking is loud but it doesn't sound like there is something loose or damaged.
No problems otherwise

My mates central locking makes hardly any noise during operation, the only way to see its operation is by watching indicators.

Two very very different central locking systems.

Cheers guys

Hmmm,

Mine is certainly audible with a reassuring shunk as it locks/unlocks but i wouldn't say it was anyway pricking my mechanically aware ears.

Mine makes a definite noise, but nothing I would worry about... Handy when you use the buttons on the handle to lock.

I'm not complaining at all and there is nothing wrong with it.
BUT, my mate stayed over the weekend and his few months o.ly older d3 is super quiet. Not joking, if not the indicators you wouldn't know if you unlocked the car.

It's really nice.

I'll make video next time.

If you guys hear the lock then I assume we all experiencing same sound, but his is just silent.

I can only concur with the other posters - my 06 plate is audible but not loud - a nice reassuring clunk when pressing the button on the handle.

When did Audi stop using vacuum pump central locking?
Maybe early D3s still use that? that was silent.

No idea mate, but his car is actually 6months younger than mine and his is silent, mine isn't

My 2004 makes a satisfying clunk when I lock the car, its not loud but not silent either. My other A8 (the D2) is completely silent, you have to watch the indicators to see if its locked.

Exactly, that's how my mates 56 D3 operates, in almost complete silence when compare to mine. You can hear his, but just about.
It's the indicators which tells you if you pressed the button.

I'm very confused, both are facelift models, manufactured only few months apart and such a difference?!?!?!?!

My 2009 makes a low level clunk noise. You know you've operated it, but nothing really loud and certainly nothing worrying.
