I broke an A8 recently and wanted to find out more about this cable and I forgot all about it.

All I remember was unplugging it from another cable.

I can't see where or what it would do in the arm rest.

You don't have the armrest anymore to open up?

I do but its not with me. So I can't take it apart.

I'd remove mine but I can't remember how to do it.

Anyone know?

Here's a image from the back of the rear seat. You can see the arm rest cable.

I looked at some more pictures and it seems to be maybe a twin contact connector.. is the arm rest heated?

To me, it almost looks like a cable-anchor or safety leash.
Almost like the security cable you get in Currys or Apple Stores securing the merchandise.
Maybe it's to keep the middle part of seat back from popping out of position during a side impact?
I may be completly wrong, it's just on the photos, it doesn't look electrical.

It's definitely a power cable.
A two core cable with a clear cover over the black rubber and two pin plug on the end.
