Cam belt - does anyone replace locating plates?

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,
I'm collecting parts for a timing belt service.
Does anyone replace these locating plates with new ones?
The service manual appears to indicate they should be renewed. I can't find a part number for them.
Thanks

I can't say I've ever noticed the instruction to replace the plates. I don't replace either as the bolts aren't torque to yield or thread locked. 55Nm is not going to deform a bolt like that. I can't say I've ever seen an engine where they have been replaced as far as I remember, as they usually still have the factory paint marks on them

The bolt is N 906 371 01 and the plate is 078 109 149. Both used in the D3 so they should still be available although likely on back order.

Thanks Mikki! Good to have the part numbers.
Good point about the paint marks the belt was replaced twice so far since new and there are paint marks on the plates, so I doubt they were ever replaced.
Hmm not sure now maybe I should just keep the originals. I might get the bolts just because I'm anal lol.

I think it's just the way it's written. Do they mean the bolts for both the sprockets and locating plates, not the actual plates?

I agree it is a very ambiguous sentence. The thing that makes me think it could be asking for their replacement is that the instruction is about renewal. The items to be renewed are identified by a number and shading, only the sprockets which are also mentioned in the sentence are not numbered or highlighted.
But in any case I won't bother, no one else seems to be replacing them not even the Audi dealer I my previous car went to.

I replaced the bolts and the plates when I did mine a couple of years ago. I was in there and I did them because I could, so I did.

I also interpreted the information in the manual as "replace".

Thanks +++
Good to know some people are replacing them.
I chickened out and booked it in with a good local mechanic who changed the timebelt on my previous S8.
Lets see if he replaces the plates.

The local Audi dealer was asking just over £1300 for the parts alone (this was with almost everything including aux belt, water pump, plus RS6 idler) I'm hoping my mechanic can at least get the parts for less.
