Soft close oddity

My soft close function hasn't worked on the two front doors since I bought her over five years ago. I washed her Friday afternoon and got a shock when the near side door closed itself. I tried it a couple of times and it didn't repeat.

Any idea why it randomly worked as it should, or did?

Possible water ingress as a result of you washing it. Since they never worked, it's safe to say the micro-switch in them is knackered. The water ingress may have bridged it so it worked that one time. I believe some people have replaced the switch themselves (as opposed to buying the complete mechanism).

In the two years I owned my S8 I have replaced all 4 door locks. The previous owner haven’t even noticed the car had this feature, only after I did a VIN decode did I realise the soft-close feature was fitted
