Air Con Pump's gone bang

Folks

Advice please, My 'Fan Belt' came off yesterday,so I got a new one. Put it into my local garage this morning and it's the Air Con pump that's seized, which has caused said belt to fail.

What's the best route to a new one? Audi want £1200 + vat - no chance.

It's a 2004 D3 3.0tdi

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Brian

I thought of the sponsors first, but they are closed today according to their website.

Ahh yes they will at ADI today, I also think Eurocarparts do a 25% discount to SRS members, I think you are also a member there too?

cheers

Cheers Brian

Eurocarparts don't stock it, they could maybe get one but it would be special order and haven't got a price.:-(

Good old e-bay, pick and choose:

You'll probably need a receiver/dryer too as the system will probably be compromised to the air. That's what kept killing mine when they were swapping compressors on my PF D3.

If uv got some numbers from ur old unit, gimme a Pm & il see what i can price for ya.

Thanks to Dave for his continued support/help. +++

The Clutch/Pulley is available from Audi for a lot less money than replacing the whole pump, so going to get it removed today to see if it is the Clutch that's locked up. If not, it looks like I'll be taking Dave up on his kind offer of a complete new unit.:-(

Thanks for the heads up PsYcHe. +++ Audi says they only change this if as you say it's exposed to the outside air, so I've warned my mechanic. It's a £158 for a new one.

Oh, and A8 parts couldn't help unfortunately. This friggin Pump is unique to the A8 and unique to the 3.0tdi in the A8, so not as commonly available as you would have suspected on the ubiquitous 3.0tdi engine fitted to loads of A4's & A6's.

The saga continues.....
