4.2 TDI Back Box's Delete?!?!
 

Anyone done this?

Yeh yeh I know its a Diesel but want a V8 sound....

Ive got a D2 3.7 V8 Petrol I've done it on - result was a lovely V8 burble now its done! :D link to the thread and a short video of the finished result HERE +++

I'd already read you thread....and yeh looks and sounds good...but its not a diesel!!
I did it to an Allraod 2.5 v6 tdi and the result was believe it or not it sounded exactly the same.....I was gob smacked given the size of the rear box's...

There are performace rear box's on web and flebay for the 4.2 tdi that boast a berble....but thought full delete would be better...just need to know if anyone dune it without replacing the full system.

Turbo's, cats and DPF's do a lot of silencing so I think it will not change all that much if you remove backbox. I am not sure if exhaust is in one piece or several sections. If its several sections you can just remove rear part for testing purposes to see how it sounds without it?

But thought given the above (and not sure if mine has the DPFs 2005 model?) could I go my local stainless fabricator and just get them cut off and strieght through pipe to a set of nice Twin (quad) tails....

But as the boxes above state they give a berble did not want to get rid of the rear boxes and end up with a spitfire sound!!

The rear boxes as standard would have to be cut off, otherwise, yeh I'd have removed for a sound test.

Also if it does not make a differance why the hell did Audi fit such HUGE rear silencers????? 1, they are real heavy and 2 restrictive!!!????

ok ive done this twice
1st i did my 3.0 tdi A6 just had POWERFLOW remove the back silencers and replace with stainless pipe and nice tail pipes (it was a tiny bit louder)

2nd i went to powerflow with my 2008 3.0 tdi A8 sport
i told them i wanted it louder so,,
they made a full system cat-back with larger pipe than the standard audi pipes
then added huge tail pipes ...........
it sounded amazing !! not too loud either,,just right,,
So i think a V8 diesel will sound amazing if you do the same....
and only around £400
made to measure there and then while you wait
lifetime warranty too

Looks nice, where did you get the chrome mirrors from (look chrome but spoz could be white), other than gen S8 can't find them for mine...
Also which Powerflow dealer did the exhaust?

I do think it was a bit cruel making that small dog go down the exhaust pipes as a kind of "Doggy Pipe Cleaner" though Robert :snigger:

the mirrors are genuine S8 £500,s worth fitted by audi at PDI
any powerflow dealer will do the same job
mine was in doncaster 01302 337722
just bare in mind i had mine done in 2009

The good thing is though, He/She fits!!!
That said I did have 8" tails on a car once...lol
