ABS issue?

So my d2 recently went in for a few little bits of work/investigations and it’s come out with a permanent abs issue - Ive assumed from them poking and prodding about for checking my suspension

Not being a mechanic by any means I’ve not a clue what could be up n wondered if you guys have seen anything like it? Could there be something knocked out/unplugged (not obvious to the eye) or am I barking up wrong tree?

When garage scanned they were getting intermittent fault, although everything appears to be working spot on.

Only issue I’ve had with this (o/s front) is on full lock where I got a general warning buzz for brakes. Always assumed a short cable to brakes getting pulled, it always reset after restart of ignition.

Tia for any advice to help on this…. Garage had asked me to get front wiring loom for them to replace that but I’m not sure how easy they’re to come by and is it not overkill…

Let's start with the negative - I hate it when you leave a car into a garage and it comes back with more issues, and the garage expects you to pay to have those issues repaired. This thread and your 'Lumpy bumpy suspension' thread seems indicative of it.

Anyway, in actual response, the attached image shows the wiring loom for the O/S side only, with part #15 being for the speed sensors. A quick look on eBay has A8parts selling what is possibly what you require, but a call to Maria or one of the other staff should confirm it (link below).

I concur that it's overkill, based on the illustration showing that part of the loom going all the way back to the fuse holder, with no apparent connection points, which would mean multiple wires being spliced. The photo on the eBay ad seems to show a complete loom (no group of hacked off wire ends) which would be ideal, but again worth confirming.

It's probably the abs sensor cable that's worn, and only loses connection at specific spots in the wheel movement/travel hence the abs error/pump buzzing.

If you have a FL I have made a guide on how to make your own front abs sensor for £35 rather than paying £399.

Prefl sensors are cheap around £22.

Ps you will also have a hard time maintaining any 20+ year old car, especially a D2 if you don't do your own work or have a proper trusted mechanic.

I also didn't do my own work except fitting head units when i got my D2, but it was either DIY or sell the car.

a quick 'audi a8 d2 prefl front abs sensor' brought:

I know that Prestige are good and i use them myself, but they arent the alpha and omega.
Ebay, autodoc, audi tradition and other foreign sites and facebook groups are your friends.

Gone and picked this up anyway as surely gonna be an easier attempt to fix than whole loom! Thanks
