1.9 TDI Conversion Project
4 Attachment(s)
Just seen this for sale here in Ireland as an unfinished project.
Don't know any other details, not something you see very often. Not sure if the link will work, I added some photos from the ad. https://www.donedeal.ie/view/16338360 |
Curious. I have contemplated something similar since the PD130 can easily make more power than the 2.8 and weighs considerably less so such a thing ought to be entirely driveable.
Shame there's no more info on how they figured out the clutch pedal. I'd be interested in that if it weren't so far away. |

Looks like the footrest has gone to make room and a smaller brake pedal, but from what?
|
Its a B5 / C5 clutch pedal. It looks like a complete B5 pedal cluster tbh but it'd be quite a job to graft it in there. Could explain why the pedals are offset so far to the left compared to stock though.

The Seller also has a 2.5TDI engine for sale on a different ad, maybe he had planned to use it instead of of the 1.9 ?
Those 1.9TDI engines are pretty bombproof but make quite a clatter. Some additional soundproofing might be needed. |
Can't see the point myself, however if anyone wants one i do have a 1.9 TDI in a seat leon, runs drives, short MOT take it away for £300

Probably building a hypermiler to hit 3 l/100km, 78mpg?
The below project used the 1.2 tdi from the Lupo +++ https://www.facebook.com/pg/ekotunin...26508297363058 http://www.wardtro.de/html/3l_audi.html http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=412491 |
Could be related to Irish Road taxes, older cars are taxed on engine size.
1.9 would be about €700pa! 2.8 €1400 4.2 (over 3.0) €1800 Newer cars (emissions-based) can go up to €2350pa..... That's why we didn't see many big-engined cars (except those with NI plates) on our tour last year. |
Yeah - that does look like the ****ty accelerator pedal from a B5.
Stupid plastic hinge that splits open... |
