Cheers. I did see that video before, was not too sure of the first bit he just unclips! Did not want to go about yanking it off then breaking some flimsy clip realising later will cost £ just to replace.+++

Hi peeps me again! Another common issue with these Bentleys are the bonnet micro switch. Does anybody have any idea if they could be repaired? I am sure they are similar to other VW/Audi models. However Bentley want to charge £500 for parts alone:angry3. I am pretty sure they can be repaired. Our one is showing bonnet still open so this results in battery drain.

Thanks

Unless they've done something really weirdly bespoke any simple microswitch is almost certainly repairable or replaceable. If it uses an unusual physical mechanism to trigger it you might be in difficulty, otherwise probably not.

As an example I replaced the physical microswitch on my S8 that detects handbrake on by a simple magnetic reed switch as used in house alarm systems. It just needed a bit of plastic cutting to mount it and a small magnet (came with the switch) fixing to the handbrake lever. As there's no longer (apart from the reed sealed inside) any physical movement, it's probably a lot more reliable.

Thanks buddy I would love to see the part number on the Bentley as it will most definitely cross link with other VW cars (Pheaton).

I've yet to see a VAG microswitch where they haven't done something weirdly bespoke with it. They saw the industry-standard microswitches and then went off and did something weird every single time http://www.corradov8.com/pics/banghead.gif

However, its worth posting a pic of said Bentley catch just in case it is the same as something else. Usually what happens with VAG stuff is that moisture creeps along the wires and then corrodes the switch from inside so it splits open and fails.

Might be worth a call to Flying Spares as they break Bentley cars
They can also sometimes order new parts cheaper . . .

Thanks guys when the weather permits will try and use some of my basic level of photography. Does anyone know what platform BENTLEY uses for parts? Would be good to see if number matches with Audi etc.

Phaeton and A8. Lots of 3D and 4D parts in them +++
