What a great car
This weekend we have cruised to Bruges and back. From Bournemouth to Dover and Calais to Bruges and back. Its obviously not a hugh distance but what better car could you do it in ? And with fuel left when we got home 😀

I have travelled in Teslas a little and they are very nice but i dont think they are as comfortable as an a8. I have never driven one though.

We still had 90 miles in the tank on return to Bournemouth. I forgot to zero the trip before leaving but google says 265 miles each way plus running around over there was probably 550 miles with 90 left. We were doing between 85 and 90 where possible.

I did Wigan to Maasstricht last year, used the tunnel (Folkestone/Calais).
Tanked at Folkestone both ways for convenience, used the company fuel card, so was a very cheap trip fuel wise. You are correct, it was the reason I wanted an 8  As for Teslas, I find the extension leads are never long enough :D |
my 3.7 petrol
Hi
Just to join the conversation. I have done trip SE London to Glasgow around 510miles (1stop for a coffee) average speed 80mph sometimes 110mph:ROFL: on one full tank of petrol (D3 2003 3.7 Petrol quattro) I was very surprised how well the trip went in such a comfort. My back didnt hurt not even bum but still would like to have cooling and massaging seats to make the ride even more comfy. Not sure what consumption I would get with the AC on. We traveled (partner, myself and the dog) on easter so AC was in the econ-on mode. |
Thats pretty good MPG for a 3.7 V8 Petrol I have to say.
It's amazing how relaxing any journey is in almost any A8, from D2 to D3 and D4 its just effortless :D |
I have just arrived at Sainsbury in the outskirts of Plymouth having travelled from Putney (LDN). 200 Miles, no stop and she covered the miles with ease. Great cruiser!
I have to admit she has used a little over half a tank so i’d better fill up whilst here before my return leg later today. |
When I had mine we did a good few tours of Europe and I was always happy with how it seemed to sip the juice even fully loaded and not sparing the horses on the Euro motorways, yet be extremely comfortable.
