Looks decent for the money but I would have a good look at the service history before parting with cash. Wheels are nice but could be replicas from China.

It might be worth looking at finding a D3 in the South. They're not very plentiful but you save the cost of a flight & a ferry crossing. There is a VRT rebate available for permanent export. They're hard to shift because of the €1454 Annual motor tax on a pre 2008 3.0TDI.

Not one for black-on-black cars, but it looks clean enough. However, the state of the ad would put me off straight away regardless of colour. Highlighter pen at the ready... :ROFL:

Just checked the VRT Calculator and it gives an estimate of 900+ euros for a 2007 3.0TDi. As Joe says above, could save you the cost of a flight and a ferry, and you get a rebate as well.

As far as I know, the VRT rebate is issued to the original ROI owner of the car after the paperwork is processed to prove the car has been registered abroad. You would need to arrange this with the seller in your case. It may take a few weeks. Most Traders are familiar with the process as a lot of hi-end cars and large 4x4's exported in the last 2-3 years have availed of this scheme.
A lot of D3's in the South would originally have come from the UK and would have speedo clocks in miles rather than Km like this one;

Cheers lads

Ive a friend in the south so in theory could i purchase that car and have it registered in his name and then transfer it to ni plates and my m8 would get the rebate?

Yes, that would work if you don't mind the hassle.
The VRT rebate is repayable to the Current registered owner of the car at the time of export. The car has to be presented to an NCT Centre for an appraisal prior to export which costs about €38. You then have 30 days to export it.
VRT rebate takes 4-5 weeks to process typically.

It might be easier to buy from a trader and let them sort it.

Back on topic..said this before but you could try and locate a decent Indie specialist local to where the car is and get them to check it first, might cost you £100 or so, but saves you travelling if its clearly a dog. It may be just me but when I have bought cars in the past for my boys nearly everything I looked at on Gumtree was shockingly bad, maybe a bit of a sweeping statement but I would look at other more respected selling sites IMHO
