Swap seats to "sport seats", possible?
God morning.
I have found a set of sport seats from a 2006 or 2007 A8, the question is, will they fit my 2004? Mechanically they will for certain fit, but the electronics? will the car "accept" them? These are the one´s I currently have: http://www1.garaget.org/archive/85/8...30-1366947.jpg They´re in good shape, but so boring. I want these: http://www1.garaget.org/archive/68/6...16-2477271.jpg Thanks //Mattias |
Hello again
Well, I haven't done it before but there is my understanding. I'm 99% sure it's a straight swap when it comes to fixing points. Comfort seats have more functions therefore you will need the seats with their individual ECUs unless your ones can be recoded, doubt it. I haven't seen a specific coding for the comfort seats, but I can look later on +++ I doubt there is CP and overall a pretty straight forward swap mate |

But it does kind of make sense when you think like Audi  Thanks Ian +++ |
Could you guys explain CP?
CP removing? What is CP? |

Some ECU's in the car have it, some do not. It is designed to protect against theft as the ECU when first installed takes on the ID of the VIN of the car it is installed into. If you move the ECU to another car, it knows its been moved, and will not work properly. It will generally work as far as required for safety, but luxury goes out of the window. e.g. A speedo would show the speed, but no DIS, revs etc. A seat would adjust enough to make it safe to drive, but no heating, ventilation etc. An amplifier will produce sound from only speaker. Interestingly, it also applies to airbags, but not really sure how an airbag can do anything other than explode.... (!) :D |
Oh, and removal is supposedly a connection back to Audi HQ Germany to sort.
Audi dealers can do it, but they're hit and miss whether they'll want to get involved. There a few independents around with the capability though who seem happy to help. |
Alright, so I´ll just have to stick with my seats then

Or did I misunderstand something?
