4H W12 mesh on 4E grille

I saw a photo of an 4E Audi A8L with the same type of mesh that comes with the 4H W12 A8.

Anyone know where to get the same type of mesh or have done this mode?

where did you find said photo?

I believe on closer inspection thats the w12 grill from the d3 with chicken wire put in behind it so easy enough to do

it just looks like this type of mesh which is a crimped wire with either nothing or stainless steel / black behind it -

It's an S8 front bumper with the gloss black with chrome trim grille on it (not purely W12 as mine has that grille as standard) with what looks to be some kind of mesh behind. Presumably to stop wildlife entering the engine bay via the radiator...

Yeah, its some kind of mesh but not sure. Its not the W12 but facelift A8 grille. W12 facelift grille has vertical chrome lines.

The guy who has the car bought the grille from a guy who "custom" makes those. He take the grill and attaches the mesh somehow to the back of the grille.

Im thinking this must be possible to do myself. Since the 4H W12 grille this type of mesh.

But only need to source the same type of mesh (or as close as possible).

Is that the stuff?

Architex_mA8tey 29th April 2016 08:42 AM

looks like it. I would possibly be a tad worried about it coming all the way from China undamaged though

Haha yes good point although doesn't it all come from over there to start with these days?
That link you found though was bang on for the materials to do it yourself.
