If you're going to have a 4x4, have one, don't mess around with the pretend stuff that'll get stuck as soon as you touch one wheel on wet grass with a horse box on the back. You'll end up asking someone with a Rangie to pull you out :o
You'll only end up wanting more space anyway plus if you box clever you can have somewhere for over nighters.

Is that a Unimog?
Damn I forgot about those. Yes definitely get a Unimog, that's the grand moggie of all offroaders :)

There's even a 4-door version

It's not a Unimog, It's a DAF. Unimog's are awesome buuuut they are very expensive, unless you opt for one as old as your photo, but then it's old and very agri, awkward to drive, noisy and hot, they are basically a fast tractor even have a PTO.

I've never seen one of those before what a cool bit of kit, though i wouldn't want to drive down a tarmac road on those tyres.

It reminds me a bit in the way it moves of a old Fordson tractor conversion that used 2 screws 1 each side, the Russians i think developed it further into a little truck, really good in the snow.

I love the way you've all turned Mike's search for a road going 4x4 into an army assault course vehicle!! :D

I think I know where they got the inspiration for that design ...
