removing tow ball
herewith an entry in the stupidest question of the year category
want to remove the ball .....factory fitted FL my2000 turn the plastic knob [ which locks the ball casting in place presumably ] , insert the tiny key , try clockwise and anticlockwise , try to pull down nothing ...perhaps a tiny sideways movement tried a second pair of hands ...still nothing am I missing something ? a lump hammer on the ball didn't help ! |
The key will only remove when locked - so, you can easily identify which position is unlocked.
Once unlocked, twist the black knob all the way round and it should drop out - if not, a gentle knock with a rubber mallet might pursuade it. If its been in there a long time, you might be onto penetrating oils and more violence, but it should come out lol +++ So - Key in, unlock, then pull knob out slightly and twist it all the way round.... |
thanks ian , will try again when I have working clothes on
didn't want to try brute force in case there was something I didn't realise ! i'ts only been on for a couple of years my farmer next door neighbour fitted it for me in his tractor workshop...he is used to such things ! |
all done !it was pulling the knob out after turning that I missed!
thanks again ian |
