Audi Replacing coilpacks - Free

Took the S4 (03 4.2 V8) into Audi today and they fitted 8 brand new coils for free, the old ones were prone to failing so Audi are changing to a modified version free regardless of mileage or warranty status. I'm sure D3s will be effected and maybe facelift D2 models too. Ended up buying a big Audi toy car for my nephew to drive around in so not a completely free visit.
Give your dealer a call and find out if your effected. +++

Amar

Is there a tech bulletin or similar that gives details for this? Since my S8 is reg'd 6 months earlier than the S4 you mention it seems likely mine might be effected.

My A6 on an 04 plate has required a single coil pack in the last 3 years of ownership - I keep a spare in the boot now in case we end up stranded!

Campaign 28E9: Coil Pack, campaign lists that coils numbered 07K 905 715D or F are satisfactory.

It's not a recall as such, so they won't contact you. They may tell you that if your effected Audi will have sent you a letter (not true) so just tell them they did and that's how you found out +++

How cool is that? Thanks Amar +++

Would be interesting to know exactly which engine codes this effects? And if any D2s fall into the recall.

Thanks for let us know! One for further research!

From the info I got today it seems ALL push-in type coil pack equipped cars will be considered!! Only if a leter version is available but hey, good stuff!!!

So, simply get in touch with your local Audi dealer?

Simple as that?

Wouldn't this help with smoother running and economy? :D

Ben

What cars would you consider covered from the info you have now?

The coil pack I replaced on the A6 was 06C905115M according to the invoice, but says underneath was 06C905115L

I don't have the numbers of the coils on the S8 as not replaced one as yet....

All 40v A/S8's, 3.0/3.2V6, 1.8T (post 2000), 2.0/2.0FSi etc.
