Summer tyres
 

Hi guy's just after some advice here please im puting summer tyres back on the car now have any of you tried the uniroyal rainsport 3s the car is audi a8 d3 se 4.2 tdi remapped to 400 bhp and 800 nm Wheel size is 255 40 19 or am i better sticking with the stock pirelli p zero tyres cheers jambo.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport is a favourite for many. Depends if you want an "all-weather" tyre or you use you car for outings on nice summer days.....

Hi mate its really just a general tyre im looking for as i only use the car at weekends as i use my works van i do about 6000 miles a year and i have got my vredistine wintrack extreme 4s on her now and saw the uniroyals sitting as £96 a corner on the tinterweb cheers jambo.

Great all round tyre, a bit soft if I'm honest but grip unbelievably well in the wet and are fine in the dry, you could buy something better for twice the price but I'm sure you'll be fine with them, Search on google and you'll find loads of good reviews on them, another good tyre for decent money is the hankook v12 evo's

Stuck these on the oldest's Mazda 3 (OK, not quite the same as an '8), but he reckons they're pretty good compared to the Goodyears that were on before.

If you see Yokohama Advan Sport advertised cheap, stay away! They might be OK in warmer weather, but they're sh!te when it's a bit chilly, which admittedly is most of the time in Scotland.

I don't know if they make them in your size, but check out the Michelin Cross Climates - they are an excellent all-round tyre that can be used in summer but has great grip in snow/ice too.

I got a set on my Volvo and I've been really impressed. They're quiet too.

I'd love to see the theory/design behind that, as tyre companies have spent years pushing different tyres for different purposes - different compounds with specific characteristics for different climates. Have they come up with new rubber compounds which are able to be optimal over a wider range of temperatures? How do they work?

Oh - and I'm still on winters till this snow stops...;)

My personal experience is that they've worked very well on my Volvo - they feel very surefooted and inspire confidence.
