Rusty Power Steering Pipe Cooler Brackets
1 Attachment(s)
Has anyone else been thinking about a solution to this eyesore which I think we're all starting to experience?
The brackets which attach left and right to the power steering cooling pipe across the front of the radiatior fairly take away from any efforts to make the engine bay look good. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1619724913 Anyone solved already? |
I hate these things so much! I've been contemplating soaking them in evaporust and then painting them. Possibly mask off the pipework and sandblast the bracket.
They're so horrid I might even make some billet aluminium versions :ROFL: |

If you want an improvement, I used this on a few bits of the RS4 when replacing the oil cooler and aux rads...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007SLAER8/ Brass wire brush, gloop it on a few times, mask, prime, paint.... Looked a million times better, didn't need to remove parts +++ How long it will last :Confused: |
Likely a good shout, thanks.
It just looks though like a part which, without removing, you'll never get fully into and there will be annoying, tiny bits of visible rust. I'm not even sure if they'll come off easily. They look riveted? And they now look so bad I'd be worried bending them to get them off would result in breaking. And the inevitbile cable-ties . . . |
They are rivetted yes. The rivets have popped apart on one of the brackets of the barnfind, although its still holding on because its bolted in place. They were bent to fit on originally, but they would just snap now.
I shall investigate further +++ |
