Printer with Parallel Connection

Does anyone have an old printer lying around which has a parallel connection...the computer I need a printer for is so old it doesnt have usb and I am finding a real job to find a printer that is old enough.

I had the opposite problem, have an old, but still functional, HP2100 LaserJet that only has parallel port, but managed to find a network card that fits and it now sits happily on my network.

Can you not network the computer you want to use?

Depends what are you looking for. Most business class printers have parallel port. I have oldish HP Laserjet 4050, you could use similar if space is not an issue. I bought mine about 4 years ago for £40 and about £25 for re-manufactured cartridge. I t has ethernet connection as well. And cartidge is good for 11,000 copies.

Or you can use any other network printer

I've got a parallel to USB adaptor for my laserjet printer - can you get one that works in reverse?

An old hp laserjet shouldn't cost much - most commercial users have been binning these for years, which is how I got mine

Indeed, a used one will be cheap and reliable.
My "everyday" printer is an old Laserjet 6P and is indeed connected via the parallel port (to aWindows 7 64-bit system).

I'd look on eBay or your local feecycle/Freegle.

I think I've got a canon bubblejet which has a parallel port, I'll check and let you know Ranj

You used to be able to get USB/ethernet (10/100) to parallel, I ran one (HP adaptor) networked that way, not sure if I threw it out or not when I moved (might be in the garage or attic still)

Despite the description, think this has the necessary connections for old pc to new printer?

Nothing Fancy

I m not looking for anything fancy...the current one is a dot matrix printer but it has stopped pulling the paper through for some reason....

So anything with a parallel port will do fine...thanks for your suggestions guys...I ll keep a look out...but it dont look promising for the existing computer...

I think the hp laserjet might be a good idea

I think I still have a dot matrix one here but will need to check tomorrow.
