Can VCDS configure anything useful on an 8V S3?
Thoughts that occured to me yesterday after running a VCDS scan on a mates manual S3, the 8V version which has a 2-litre turbo chucking out about 300bhp.
We were looking for reasons why he'd had a major "running like a dog" issue earlier in the day but found absolutely nothing and it's now running sweetly! But that made me wonder, is there anything beyond the usual diagnostics in that era of Audi S3/A3 that can usefully be configured by VCDS? |
I can’t think of anything particularly memorable you can configure that you can’t also do through the touchscreen. Things like adding the RVC require ODIS rather than VCDS
one thing worth doing when scanning that car is to take the tick box out of (IIRC) UDS aggressive mode before running an auto scan. From memory it’s always pre-selected and in my experience with the Golf it can result in unexplained fault codes which make no sense. This was the recommendation when I asked on the VCDS forum |
Not sure as to whether they can be consider 'useful', but here's two examples of lists that have been created. There's probably duplication in them:
