Recommended oil for 2002 D2 S8?

I will be getting my new monster serviced at some point and I was wondering about choice of oil? There is the Quantum 5w40 in there right now, which I think was the Audi recommended oil but given the age of the car would it be worth looking at a thicker oil now? What do others use?? I don't know much about this oil to be honest.

I will be getting the car serviced yearly regardless of mileage, max 10,000 miles in a year so I'm not too fussed about longlife at this part of the car's lifecycle.

Plus what plugs are good for these?!

Thanks all

5w40 (ie Quantum Platinum meeting VW 502 00 spec) is correct for 10K fixed service intervals. I use Quantum Longlife III 5w30 (VW 504 00 spec) and change every 10K anyway, although this (as the name suggests) is intended for longlife service intervals. Having seen what 18K 'long life' oil changes do to an engine, that's not for me! I will though, use an oil that the manufacturers reckon will last that long, on the basis that its going to be in much better condition after 10K than an oil which will only last 10K.

Plugs are Bosch FGR6KQE. Euro Car Parts are good for these if you can catch them when there's a discount code on.

I've just bought 4 x 5 Litre Cans of Shell Helix 5W30 VAG from Euro Car Parts - they had them on offer at £19.00 including vat per can each - so worth keeping your eyes open and stocking up when you see the price at its best

Thanks all. Am I right in thinking 7.5 litres are needed for a change?
