Sunday 5th June - Wednesday 15th / Thurs 16th June 2016
Kinsale Near Cork to Malin Head & The Giants Causeway

After the 2016 UK A8/S8 meeting in South Wales some owners are going to take the ferry over from Fishguard to Rosslare and then we shall drive the WILD ATLANTIC WAY which is 1500 miles of wiggly coastline and awesome scenery and beaches (oh and no doubt the odd pint of guinness in the evenings!) around the West Coast of Ireland where we shall finish at the Giants Causeway on the following Wednesday .

So this is TEN DAYS of driving your 8 and should be an awesome adventure. when completed drivers can cross back to UK from either Belfast/Larne, Dublin to Holyhead or back from Rosslare to Fishguard

Cheers M8tey! ;) - I'll also dig out details of our family holiday round Ireland a few years ago: we took essentially the same route, and I'm sure there's a few specifics that may be worth adding in to this +++

Text the wife about this and her response was "Ireland F**K yeah!!".

I think she wants to come along.

Just need to make sure I can get the time off.

Great! At least you have plenty of notice!! +++

I'm now trying to sell the idea that, as we'll be in NI at the end we might as well take the ferry over to Scotland (Larne to Troon?) and carry on further North up to Sutherland. Maybe even over to the Outer Hebrides from Ullapool.....

This sounds great and am now working on selling the idea to Mrs D. At the moment she seems to think that taking the motorhome is a better option.

Is Craggy Island on the itinery? :)

HPsauce 13th July 2015 12:45 PM

It could be. According to this web site the actual locations were in County Clare not offshore: http://www.tedtours.com/

I have a serious question before I consider this: is this a week of driving your '8 like a bloody maniac, often on the wrong side of the road, desperately trying to keep up with the person in front of you to ensure that you don't get lost and seeing nothing of the scenery because you're driving so hard....or is it a leisurely trip as part of an eye-catching convoy of '8s to enjoy some of the beautiful sights of Ireland?

 That thought crossed my mind too.

I'd love to do a tour of Ireland, but there's no way I could do it unfortunately due to work commitments. In case of IT emergencies, I need to be contactable at all times and have good internet connectivity to allow me to fix problems remotely and/or be able to return home at short notice. Ireland is a bit too far and patchy, network-wise, to ensure I could continue providing my customers with the response-time they need.

A weekend in South Wales should be no problem though. Hoping to be able to confirm that before too long :)
