Some new buyer niggles….
So as some of you may know I’m now a fairly happy owner of a d4 to replace my beloved, but written off, d3 (rip)
However, I’ve had a few issues, some of which are ongoing, but the dealers been great so far in trying to get things resolved. 1/ regularly drops into limp mode - this now seems to have been resolved with a new turbo (under 80k miles) 2/ air con pump, error flagged in vcds 3/ auto stop start, error in vcds and I’ve been experiencing regular issues when trying to use. Ie getting stranded at a busy junction, having to totally ‘reboot’ the car 4/ suspension - no errors but it feels every bump n ripple in roads you could imagine - nothing like as comfy or smooth as my d3 5/ phone antenna 6/ lighting to rear n/s door The dealer doesn’t have their own mechs but use someone else who I’ve not been enthused by…. They’ve not managed to resolve any of these issues other than the turbo one, apparently they can’t find faults Yet, every time I scan they appear so there’s something there to investigate…. Any how’s, thought I’d share with you, including one of the early scans pre turbo being resolved, to see if anyone had any knowledgeable input to share on any of the errors I’ve agreed with the dealer to take it to my local Indy for investigations so will hopefully get to bottom of things Tia for any input |

Address 05: 02241 - The ECM needs reflashed with same or newer software. It might explain the issue you had in point 3 of your post. For other VAG cars I've read about with the same issue, there's is more severe in that the car starts and then stalls again, and continues that way.
Address 08: 0129 - Seems to be an issue that others have encountered, which is some plastic lugs (end stops) breaking off. The following thread gives further details: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-...issue-3013380/ and the following video should help with removing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_GcY17Zl-I Address 08: 0378 - Check out the following thread, which also has links to a write-up: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=14104 Address 34: 403200 - From what I've read, it seems that this only appears if you've been into the MMI to activate the 'tyre change' option, or if the car thinks it is being jacked up. Normally the date indicates when this last happened, but all your dates are the same. Had all the error codes previously been cleared, with this scan being after that? Address 5F: 01524 - Can't find anything useful about this as most are old posts about people retrofitting BT to their vehicles. Only suggestion I have it to check the coding for Address 5F. Address 6F: 0046 - Again, can't find anything useful. Try clearing code and see if goes away. If not, try changing colour to see if that works. If not, then it might be gone completely, as the text implies (Electrical Failure). |
Thanks! Actually looks straight forward enough I think I might have a bash at that, although be prepared for some blue air, as anything I touches tends to end in tears…
Ref address8 that’s good to know too, I feared the worst in terms of a pricey fix. This was my first vcds scan, however I’d had into an old school mate who has a vag Indy shop in my hometown which I happened to be visiting. He’d scanned and cleared everything on the Tuesday (16/5) then I drove home and scanned when I got home on the Wednesday (17/5). We’d had it up on the ramps to look at suspension but he couldn’t see anything other than what looked like some perishing to bushes, no excessive play etc.. we’d had in jack mode then. I’m thinking the levelling module is faulty as it will raise and drop but Ive not notice it self level on occasions when stopped on a steep junction for example. This was always noticeable in my d3. Wondered if this fault in turn could also then be aff3cting general ride if it wasn’t knowing what do do ref levelling off etc |

Adding to your point about stiff suspension, do you have Towing mode enabled, as I've seen suggestions that that can attribute to the harshness? Have seen multiple references to hard suspension both on the D3 and D4, but no concrete solution to it anywhere on it's cause/resolution. |

I have had the 08 HVAC issues that you see on your car.
steamship refers to the 0378 Coolant Circulation Pump and links to my thread about it. I still have the 0129 Defrost Flap issue which manifests in a sharp crack shortly after the ignition is turned on and the flap is exercised and some smaller clicking sounds when the flap is adjusting. The end stop on mine was broken as steamship also refers but I believe the vent/flap/motor assembly was something like £260 so I've lived with it as it does seem to work but the clicking and error code is annoying! Seems like I've been chasing you around the forum today with what look to be some common faults affecting the D4... -=Glyn=- |
Haha, indeed, got my own stalker ;)
The de mister wasn’t annoying me much until one evening I was out late, car was fogged up and the passenger side would not clear so really wasn’t helping with my view. So gonna be something I need to get sorted. I don’t get any noises or anything to suggest there’s an issue, just the codes coming up… I’ve since had a new fault, the mem seat controls on driver side have stopped working……. Quote:
