Downpipe clearance at gearbox mount

Hi All,

After replacing near and offside downpipes with aftermarket BM units to my 2.8 QS (AMX engine) I have noticed that the clearance between the downpipe and the gearbox mount (the epdm cover?) is approx 10mm on the nearside and 20-25 on the offside at its shortest point. Now stupidly on my part I didnt check the clearance on the originals before removal. Would 10mm clearance be considered acceptable considering heat dissipation and movement of the powertrain under load?

Also, is there any worth in wrapping the downpipes in order to reduce heat dissipation into the engine bay?

Hi, can anybody advise on my question above?

I can't yet since its impossible to tell from above, and Ricky's is in bits on the lift. I can measure when that goes back together though. Thats a V8 of course, but it should be indicative.

Thanks MJ... the nearside downpipe never seemed to go back as a 'proper fit', offside replacement felt better, or maybe I got used to the process. The exhausts are level though.

Update. Transpires the Part I received "new other" had been tinkered with and the profile shape was out. A new replacement through BM corrected the issue, have 20-25mm clearance as needed.
