FOR SALE: 2007/57 D3 S8 Aqua Blue Pearl, High Spec

I’ve finally come to terms with selling my S8 and would naturally like to offer it to those on the forum before any old person buys it via the usual sale sites. I’ve unexpectedly had to pay out for a couple of big things recently and I usually cycle the few miles to work each day so this S8 is sadly wasted on me recently and just sits on my drive. I don’t do short journeys in it when it barely has a chance to get to a decent temperature – I’ve always had a little runaround car for that (Lupo, Fiat Seicento, Ford Ka etc.)

Apologies in advance for the long advert but I've included everything I yearn to see when reading a car advert ;)
Instead of making the page picture-heavy, there is a link to lots of high-res pictures at the bottom.

2007 (57 plate) facelift S8, 5.2-litre V10 engine. Paint colour is Aqua Blue Pearlescent Effect. Interior leather is Kamut Beige with carbon fibre trim throughout - a rare colour combination it would seem. The light beige Alcantara headlining and door pillars finish the interior off beautifully. Mileage ticked over to 140,000 on the annual meet and shouldn’t rise too much.

Spec includes:
Bang & Olufsen
Solar panel sunroof
Adaptive Cruise Control (radar)
Rear seat entertainment with 6 DVD multichanger in the boot, and remote in the rear armrest
Audi Music Interface with genuine USB & Apple leads
Digital TV (with video in motion front and rear)
Fingerprint memory / start with keyless entry
Audi Parking System Advanced
Tyre-pressure monitoring (pressures & temperatures)
Through-load ski hatch and ski bag
HomeLink garage door opener
Electric rear and side privacy blinds
Twin-pane/UV insulating glass and heated windscreen

The combination of solar sunroof blowing air through, UV-reflective windscreen, all other glass and electric blinds means it never gets unbearably hot in summer, and the heated windscreen melts ice away in seconds during winter - like Ford's system with the visible filament lines in the glass, but Audi's uses a conductive film between the window panes which heats up the entire screen.

I prefer to keep cars as standard and original as possible, and the only 'upgrade' I have done on the exhaust by tying the butterfly flaps open, which can obviously be undone at any time, and also had one pair of the centre resonators removed. The stock exhaust sound is so muted so it’s nice to open it up a bit to enjoy the sound of the V10. It’s still fairly quiet when pootling around, with a discreet but purposeful burble, but above 3000rpm and in Sport mode is when you really hear the difference.

It's been serviced and the oil changed at least once a year, with other fluids and filters changed regularly as well as spark plugs done in May 2018. I’ve only ever filled it with premium unleaded petrol, tyres are always changed 4 at a time so as to not upset the diff. It currently has 4 Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres with 5.0mm tread all round, and the wheels are in good condition with no kerbing. The spare in the floor of the boot is a Dunlop with full tread. Steel brakes with plenty of meat on the pads (EBC Yellow Stuff). Car is washed fairly regularly always by myself, and the interior is in excellent condition apart from a small patch of wear on the driver's side right hip bolster in the usual place for a vehicle with this mileage but I was quoted £100 by a professional leather restorer to sort this.

I bought it from a large car dealer in Derby that sourced it from an Audi main dealer and it had full Audi main dealer service history up until they got their hands on it and tainted the service record with their own dealer stamp otherwise I would have kept the Audi main dealer servicing going. After that, I continued the servicing at a SEAT main dealer I’ve used for many years and there is an extensive box folder of any maintenance carried out since the car's new order from Perth Audi back in late 2007, including recalls in its early life for problems which plague the D3 S8 later on if not addressed such as leaking rear screen and rear brake calipers.

Upper suspension control arms were replaced in December 2017. The FSI carbon buildup was taken care of in May 2018 and it made such a difference to the car’s responsiveness. I took it to a respected specialist in Kent that stripped the top of the engine down over the course of a week to clear any carbon buildup by hand as well as cleaning the intake manifold and removing the infamous brittle plastic swirl flaps in the magnesium manifold. The large metal baffle was also removed from the intake manifold so it’s now just a hollow piece of magnesium which improved the intake sound greatly as well. I stupidly didn't think to get it dyno'd before and after but the differences were immediately obvious when I picked it up, and it’s not difficult to find other threads on here where close to 100hp has been gained from having this work done.

To any bad points I can think of-
I believe there is a problem with the telephone/bluetooth module under the passenger carpet. The MMI says ‘Telephone not connected’ and my phone can’t find the car. Water ingress to the carpets can be a problem but I do clear out all the sunroof drains and the carpet foam was bone dry when I last peeled it back so I don’t think it’s water ingress. A fix is sometimes to unplug the module and plug it back in to reset it – this didn’t seem to fix it either so I’ve just left it since I don’t really use my phone in the car anyway. A new module would undoubtedly fix it.

Start from stone cold can be a little weaker than I’d say it should be. A new battery was always on my shopping list and I’m quite confident this would sort it (it had a new battery in 2015). Once started and the cats are warming up for the first 30-60 seconds, the car seems to run a little rough but it’s OK once this initial start has finished and the exhaust settles down to normal idle sound.

Electronic boot motor is on the weak side too. It isn't strong enough to open the boot on just the battery. It sometimes opens with the engine running and sometimes doesn't.

There is a small bit of lacquer peeled off at the left side of the front grill, about the size of a £1 coin. Circled in the pictures (link below).

The beauty of buying cars from a forum such as this, is that the history of all of our cars is laid out for all to see, and I hope mine comes across as honestly as possible.

2 original keys. The 'S8 FKD' number plate will stay on the car and there is a standard width number plate in the boot, but the car’s original reg is RF57 PCZ. I live and usually work in Chelmsford, Essex where I’m happy for the car to be viewed and driven.

Now, the bit of the advert you are looking for… I would like to offer it on here for £10,500 which is towards the upper end of S8s of this age and mileage, but it’s been difficult to find one with a similar high spec and colour to mine so if there is no interest for quite some time then the price may adjust when I list it on the usual sites.

It’s a genuine sale and, as time goes on, I’m less reluctant about driving it less frequently. Having said that, I returned with another ‘8 after selling my first D3 and once again after selling by D2 S8 to buy a little BMW Z4 so who knows what will be next!

If it was slightly cheaper, slightly nearer or a darker interior - I'd have bought it immediately.

Cracking example of how an advert should be..... Lots of detail and good photos.

Fantastic car with a great spec. I think it is a very good price considering the spec, I have seen plenty of basic spec S8's for sale for more which could be why they are still for sale :)

Slightly less mileage and I think it would warrant more money, especially as they manifold is also done. Good luck with the sale, I hope it goes to a forum member

I can't think of another D3 S8 with a spec to match this

Agreed.... In fact, Bar a handful of W12's, I cant think of many UK D3's to rival the kit on this one....

Must be the slowest S8 out there with all that extra weight.... :p

Great Ad, superbly presented car always well looked after, and will be a huge loss to the forum if you dont get another '8!
Surely there's a D4 S8 somewhere in Aqua Blue Pearl with your name written all over it!
Good luck with the Sale Ollie - I'll keep my ears open. . . +++

Thanks. Yeah, I had the D2 and D3 in the same colour for a while, so who knows what I'll be back with

Thanks for the messages and comments so far.

I am happy to reduce the price to £9,995 for forum users before sticking it on Autotrader. As I say, it's been difficult to price as there aren't many similar to mine spec and condition wise out there, but I know the high mileage is at the top end so offers are not beyond the realms of possibility and I thank users for the interest until now. Obviously, I'd like it to be bought by somebody on here but almost all of us have an A8/S8(s) already and are happy with them so it won't surprise me if the buyer is not to be found here
