Zig-Zag hill - Dorset
Another favourite, that was featured on 5th or Top Gear some time ago when they were testing a 2 seater, british sports car. Jason Plato stated that it's impossible to do more than 30mph up the hill because of the zig-zag nature of it.
I disagree Mr Plato, I've done more up that hill, with only 3 out of 4 wheels on the ground +++ (fully attested by Shark_90) +++ |

know it well - wife's from there..

I nearly total'd my saab coming down there with an unbraked trailer pushing me on, tight bends.
So last night i went up there, really need the 2 way radios so someone can sit at the top and give a heads up if anything comes past. Difficult looking out the side window to see round the bend. Fun bit of road though. |
Unfortunately the surface of this road is getting pretty bad
|
It certainly is an interesting road, and best of all its less than 5 mins from my front door. Turn left from the drive, and I can be there in less time than takes to hard boil an egg.

Well well well. I thought you were in Blandford. How close to the road are you? I'm not inviting myself around or anything.
I often come though that way just for a change, off 303, Gillingham, Shaftesbury, Zig Zag, can't remember all the names of villages, Sixpenny Handley, Tollard Royal. |
I am right on the edge of Blandford, just off what is known locally as the "High Road". I would turn left from here, head off towards Melbury Abbas and access zig zag hill from just the other side of Melbury. Or I could go up through Compton Abbas airfield. Assuming I am thinking of the same zig zag hill.
