Decoding spec of potential purchases

Hi again all,
Is there an available resource for checking spec / build details of potential purchases please? I seem to recall that Ian is often good enough to help people along here and that I have seen the folks at a8 parts disappear to their computer screens and come back with info?
I only ask as , I’m realising just how generic and inaccurate many of the populated spec sheets on autotrader etc are. I accept they just wok down a tick list , but

thanks as always, Paul

Yep, Ian probably your best bet. I find if photos aren’t totally rubbish you can spot most important options (I even got good at spotting the boot hump in the S5 that covers the sports diff control module!)

At least B&O is easy, as are blinds, ACC, keyless start. Depends what options are key for you?

I always work on the basis that a car advertised as ‘fully loaded’ will invariably feature no options at all……

The build code sticker is the definitive spec, for the D2, at least - but as Ian is (I think...) the only one on here who can decode that, all roads still lead back to him. Although I vaguely recall that he/someone else posted a link to a website that does that decoding for you???

There is also the following site as well:

I would be more interested in getting PR codes from Reg No or VIN, all my old Audi's PR stickers were fine but the newer car the less readable sticker. 2006 D3 has faded but still readable, barely. 2011 Q7 it's so much faded can't read a single thing.

The build sticker contains the service specific items really. Steering, brakes, engine, suspension etc.

All the factory options that people are normally more interested in aren't on there.

You need a proper VIN to PR codes online service to get that data direct from VAG.

Sorry to raise this thread up again! I'm sure it's been asked before elsewhere, but is there someone who can check the spec based on the registration only? Looking at a possible purchase but the car isn't local.

if you download the my audi app from play store or apple you can input your vin and it will show you the build sheet
