Boot Storage Idea
In my A4 I use to carry a selection of tools, blankets, spare clothes, first aid kits, spare bulbs and a night light.
Half the that kit is not going in the 8 but the rest of it (blankes, clothes, first aid kit and such) I would like to put in. I can't make a false floor in the 8 like I did in the A4 so I'm trawling ebay for secure and tidy boot organisers. I'm debating this one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121294017774 But with it being a bit hole in the middle and no dividers I'm not that keen on it. Does anyone use any boot storage bags or anything? |
That looks fairly small, only 50cm wide.
I use the side spaces in my D2 boot having acquired a full panel for the right side now. Symmetrical, I don't have the "TV bulge" on the left. Behind those panels I have a fair bit of space: Left, I've dropped the CD changer below the floor (no Bose) and made a false floor held by Velcro so have a big space above for motley stuff such as spare bulbs, deicer, electric air pump etc. etc. Right, I have a 9-litre (2-gallon) metal petrol can for emergencies. It's empty by the way. There's also room for a few cloths and stuff as well. I also have some heavier stuff like a battery charger, jump leads etc. in the spare wheel centre. The ski hatch "giant condom" is also down there somewhere. |
Sounds like you got a lot more side space that I have in the D3.
I got a little basket area on the left (needs a new netting) and the battery on the right. can't do anything with them. The spare wheel is empty at the moment, waiting on the twobar storage to turn and I might be able to get a few things in there but then that's it. I got the area behind where the netting goes that I'd like to put something in there. This one looks ok as well. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261397912714 |

One Tesco "Big Green Bag", containing one (empty) Virgin Wines 12-bottle wine carton with the top folded in. If you get the right bag and carton it's a strong snug fit and can be carried in one hand. +++ |
For all my oddments, I have a grey cabin luggage case in mine that I claimed on my expenses for - I am not an MP though.
Cheaper version of something like this... http://www.selfridges.com/en/Bags/Ca...ibute=Amethyst |
That's way too much to just shove in the boot. lol
I just ordered one of the ebay ones. |
Good spot, I've done the same - though I also like the Tesco Big Green Bag and Virgin wine box idea, as more of a "behind the passenger front seat" idea….

My Dunlop boot storage bag turned up today, the day I cycled in to work and I don't know how to get it home. lol
But here's the pics. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ps1vrbwocs.jpg 2 litres bottle of Vimto for size. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psgawcq2ib.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psfzepcepe.jpg It seems ok. should do the job to put in some cleaning bits, basic emergency tools and such. |
I drove in today and picked up my storage box.
One slight issue with it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psydyrjcv4.jpg Its about an inch off the top of the boot. so I got to pull it out every time to get stuff out of it. its not really an issue but a slight oversight on my part. I also fitted an umbrella holder. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psiimlshof.jpg Just need an umbrella. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...psbbge6dxg.jpg |
I use the fold down curry hooks either side on our D3's and point 2 umbrellas into each corner of the boot and the curry hook holds the handle op and presents it to you! +++
