Aircon regas
 

Hi peeps hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. My AC is very low at present so made a call to a local mobile guy, he reckons my one would need extra gas due to having ac at rear too. Is this correct or should I just go with local high street chain? Also do our cars have any additional pollen filters? Cheers+++

I went with a groupon link last time I did it in Swindon, I think it was at a Mr Clutch a the time and I didnt get charged any extra for rear aircon! I know the systems take quite a lot of gas but surely its swings and roundabouts on what they get in to them! +++

The fact is has air con in the rear won’t affect the total amount of gas, but being an ‘8’ they do have a rather large refrigerant gas capacity. If the system is low on gas they will probably charge you extra on top of the regas charge to replenish it. The going rate tends to be about £25 per KG. Your car will probably hold around 900grams.

In my experience, typically when you have rear climate, you have a separate evaporator and A/C pipes that run to the rear of the vehicle to run it, and this does take quite a lot more gas. My personal examples of this are the Q7, VW Caravelle and Ford Galaxy.

The D3 however runs the climate (dual and quad zone) exclusively from the front, so doesn't have this overhead....

You can't expect the A/C guy to know every car off the top of his head, but a quick look at the sticker under the bonnet would confirm its not really that juicy for gas !

Anyhows, thanks to Homer I have managed to bag the groupon code plus 15% extra as new user:D+++ so full regas n clean just over £30 squids:)
