D2 handbrake mechanism...grease?
Given our D2's propensity for seizing its handbrake mechanism, I was wondering if a liberal application of copper grease around the lever/calliper interface might stop the ingress of sh*te (if only a little bit) into the mechanism.
Any reason why I shouldn't do it? Would probably refresh the application every couple of months. Zip |
I would have thought that a good idea. I shall inspect mine and probably do the same when I change over from winter to summer wheels/tyre in the next few days.... or weeks!

I managed to slip a rubber o-ring into the gap between the arm and the caliper body. I tried to stuff it with grease as well. Its held up for almost 5 years so far but I couldn't tell you what condition its in.
On the previous 8 one caliper did seize up and was very corroded in that location. They should have fitted a rubber boot there at the factory and not left it open like that. |
