Vas v's VCDS

Does anyone have VAS and VCDS?

The reason I ask is I would like to know if VAS has all the measuring blocks that are missing from VCDS?

It bugs me that quite a lot of the measuring blocks are missing from VCDS and I would like to make my own for the missing modules.

When you say VAS you mean VAS pc as in the old dealer tool? If so it will have all the MVB's, however if using the self diagnosis side of things you need to know the MVB number to view. Unlike Vagcom it won't tell you what each MVB means. However if you get a VAS pc version with guided fault finding then you can use the the MVB's in that section and they are selected using its text name, much more useful.

Sounds like the guided fault finding is what I need, any further info?

I know that full versions of VAS pc can be found online from various places. I don't have a copy myself. I have been a technician for VW/Audi for 11 years so have lots of experience with VAS pc and now ODIS. Really useful piece of software VAS pc and the guided fault finding side of things can be extremely helpful. It has that little something extra that Vagcom doesn't, but Vagcom is one of the best diagnostic packages I have ever used.

I installed odis and cant figure out how to get any info out of it, can it give me guided fault finding with out a connection to the car?

It has to be connected to the car for it to work unfortunately.

I don't think you get full fault finding on local PC as well. For full functionality you need to be connected to their servers as well.

Ah is there any other means to get all the info for different modules.

There is so much missing for the A8/S8 and Ross tech don't seem to bother anymore probably because of their age now.

I have sent channel maps quite a few times and there has been quite a few updates since I became a user and nothing has changed.

With a full version of VAS pc you will get everything in guided fault finding, you don't need an online connection. Online is only needed for key coding, guided coding, updates etc. ODIS is a totally different ball game and online connection is a bit more important.
