IT et-al: Re-host your forum's PhotoBucket images on Imgur
I was browsing around today as I found an old thread on here which had an old Photobucket link (which, of course, I couldn't view on Android Chrome).
My browsing around was to try to find an embed fix for the Android Chrome browser - which is my preferred browser. Noone seems to have one yet, despite there being one for Firefox. The only Chrome fix is for the Windows version. I did, however, find a workaround that forum administrators can apply to forums and have all Photobucket references replaced by Imgur references and the photos get moved to Imgur as well https://github.com/pastudan/photobucket-imgur It does warn that the script needs database access, so I'll leave this as a resource should you wish... |
Thanks Marty, I'll take a look sometime.
We have an endless supply of storage here, so it is a bit of a bug bear that folks still link out to 3rd party sites for images, but its convenience and speed I don't doubt..... |

I can see a looooong convoy of D2s heading north from Devon for storage.
|
Think more of a long convoy of D2 pictures heading North to Ian's servers ;) Some good stuff coming this week +++
|
So not only will Ian have all the knowledge there is about the A8/S8, he'll also have the biggest collection of photos as well +++
Have never used 3rd party sites for images for the exact reason 27litres came across. It's all well and good when you post your thread with lots of photos documenting the process of retro-fitting a D4 interior into a D2, but a few years later when someone is searching for instructions for doing the same, they get let down by having the words but not the pictures, either because the OP moved or deleted the photos. I suspect that very few people are aware of the storage available here. |
I wonder if I can hide that from the tax man???
Could use it like offshore banking!! Perhaps not, my 3/2 farthing won't be worth saving. |
It looks as if PhotoBucket have relented (somewhat) at last - taken a LONG while though.....

They've relented as they are risking becoming irrelevant!
Google photos make themselves difficult to link to as well. There is a work around for now that I can still use. They don't try to charge though... They just make it hard for everyone! |
