probs with extra input
Right all pluged up to xbox360. My first prob was didnt know where u select av but found that after a play LOL. so set it to AV1 changed settings to UK, then turned on xbox to get sound and rolling pic, so with difficulty i selected seting as the screen was rolling and found it was stable on north USA, japan, and think it was brazil but the pic is black and white so now i got stable screen i went into xbox seting then display then in to settings but cant do alot other than go from 50 to 60.
Cant see any way of making xbox anythink else than pal. other good bit was i got the wireless network working to here is a vid of above so u can see http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...t=01010922.flv |
The Audi tuners are pretty robust, and and you can see they support many different country signals....
The rolling you see would normally indicate the source (xbox) is chucking out a 60hz signal, where on a PAL setting, the TV tuner would expect 50hz, which can create the roll... When you set it to NTSC, this is a 60hz standard, so it stabilises, but because NTSC and PAL use a different colour system, you lose colour. Black and white is a standard system worldwide, which is why black and white always works, its a mismatch of colour systems that loses the colour.... I'd guess the TV tuner needs to be set to PAL uk, as it was on default, and the Xbox needs to be throwing out 50hz only.... If you're still in doubt, try another source like an ipod, dvd, etc, but the Audi TV tuners are pretty good, they should take almost anything 'sensible' as an input... 60hz pal isn't sensible :-) |
Thanks for that Ian. Ile try again now and change setting of xbox to 50 if it isnt already, other wise is there a box u can buy to convert it from pal to ntsc to give colour? I rember yrs ago when u had backup games for PS1 they were usa games and came out black and white till u added a adapter then they were colour.
But ile try setting first THANKS+++ |
The Xbox (I assume it's a 360) is locked to a location and will only do PAL if it's a UK/Euro model.
Also make sure that it's not set to try and do HD output (switch on the video jack). Does the RNS only support phono in, or could you do VGA? |
right got a bit further with it now if u put pal to 50 it works but the games only work in 60:-(, so is there someway or thing that can do this, I.E a convert i can plug the Xbox 360 at 60hz video phono into that will convert it then plug it onto the new aux input lead in 50hz.(fooling the xbox and the screen?)
That isnt coming out right but i know what i mean +++ going to try and see if the films i got on the USB drive work next in colour put in search for convert and came up with this. http://www.hzfrequencyconverter.com/60Hzto50Hz.html somthink tells me this isnt what i want lol so i got 3 ways of doing this 1 keep xbox 360 on 60hz and screen set to UK and find a converter to stop screen rolling 2 keep xbox 360 on 60hz and scren set to USA and find a convert to give me colour 3 keep xbox 360 on 50hz and screen set to UK and find a 50hz to 60hz converter so games play any of theses possible ??? |
If there is this will get an instant sticky! :)

Not cheap..
http://www.merconnet.com/product_inf...roducts_id=663 Cheaper.. But maybe not 'as good'. http://www.howtoconvert.co.uk/howpal2ntsc.htm Option 2 is probably your only option with these guys above. Though, there are VGA to PAL boxes around too which might work (you'd need the VGA cable for your 360 though) which would essentially give you 1 or 3. |
Is yours a 'normal' non-import xbox?
I find it hard to believe that Microsoft have 'assumed' that all PAL hardware can cope with 60hz, indeed most can, but its a pi** poor assumption to make if the games default to 60hz for a slightly improved picture quality (or not, in this case <doh>) I've never had an xbox so I'm talking a bit blind here, but seems a bit shortsighted design wise... What other outputs does the xbox have to play with? RF by any chance ? |
