de chromed
has anyone ever or seen a pic of a fully dechromed A8?
i always wanted to do this on my A8 as the trim had gone milky and thought it would be a nice tuff look, but it made it to heaven before i had a chance to do it defo not doing it to the S8 but it would look good on a dark coloured car i think someone do it  |
I intend to. My ally has gone all milky to. machine polished it back to former glory but only lasted a fortnight. So satin black it is. ;)
No how do you remove it without damage...... |

Door trims, bumpers could be painted more easily in situ..... |
Hmmmm tomorrows task methinks.
|
how did you get on with this? did you post pics up elsewhere that i've missed?
|
I started but found only the trim over the doors down the A piller comes of with undoing the screws. The trim down the D piller is slotted in place and I couldn't bring myself to wrestle with it in case I damaged it. The trim along the bottom of the doors is easy and I have had that off and done a bit of satin black spraying but bit happy with it yet. Will post some pics when I am.

Sounds good!
I'm doing all the plastics gloss black which includes, the front grilles, lower bumper trims and the lower side door trims. Will be a while before I get it done though, got a lot more important mechanical things to be sorting first! |
I've heard of vinyl tape being used to de-chrome. Cant find it at the mo but I distinctly remember seeing a bm 7 series owners site where he used the above with excellent results. Might be worth looking into.

What were you doing on a BMW 7 series owners sight! :tuttut:
Is this what you mean? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E39-M5-E46...1%7C240%3A1318 |
Yep, that's the stuff. Looks pretty good to me.
