Rustproofing with Lanoguard

9 Attachment(s)
Well, at my last MOT, the mechanic said that the S8 was "looking a bit 'crusty' underneath, and I knew that the subframes were in need of some TLC. So, after a bit of research, I found a Lanoguard franchise not far from me (close to Oakham) and took the S8 alomg.

The guy (Greg at 4Play Jeep) was brilliant and talked me through the process (which took close to a week including the time for the stuff to 'cure') and took photos every step of the way. I was so impressed that I went to pick the S8 up today and left the TTS to be done as well.

Phots below show 'before' (5862 and 5883), after steam cleaning and wire-brushing (5884 and 5861), after application of sticky stuff with a brush and almost 5L of Lanoguard with a spray, whilst it's still wet and uncured (5913 and 5910), and the completed job beginning to cure.

Hopefully, the imminent MOT will not elicit the 'crusty' comment again.

Ah, having trouble uploading photos. I'll try the first 4 here and then the second 5 in a subsequent post. No luck - I get this message "The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable". I'll try again later. It worked when I uploaded one photo at a time.

I think Lanoguard is what my 100HP specialist in Leicester will be using on mine when it's in next week to be fettled - as it spent the first decade of it's life in Aberdeen, I think it'll need it!

Any update on the Fiat?
I did mine earlier this year with this stuff.
Looks good....but maybe an annual application?

I was told that an annual inspection and ‘patch up’ might be required, not an annual application.

This looks like covering rusty metal with oil to slow down the rust by cutting off oxygen, a lot of 2.8s came with this option from the factory 😁

In my younger days they sprayed old oil under cars as a matter of course in Germany but stopped when they started using underseal on new cars.
