Awww…she's rather cute (it is a "she", presumably?). Seriously though, that's nice, much better in black than any other colour...;)

Johnmed 2nd April 2015 05:38 PM

I've always been tempted by one myself. Very nice. How is it to drive?

Adrian E 2nd April 2015 06:29 PM

225 BAM engine I presume? So effortless (had a Leon Cupra R 225 back in 2005)

A stainless exhaust and a light map with supporting mods will see 300bhp, should that be your cup of tea

brasiliangringo 2nd April 2015 06:52 PM

Very nice, i honestly think they look superb (need the RS4 style 18s) despite the clichéd hairdresser comments that they always attract. I just sold one of these after i rebuilt much of the car (specifically head / new turbo being the majors) and with a remap of 265 ish felt a fair bit quicker than my old S8 FE and with new O2 sensors returned around 31 MPG !!

The chap who bought it drove 4 hours home and called me on arrival to tell me about his smile and what a great car 'i had built' (not quite!) which i was very proud of - the rare moment when the buyer returns home and feels quids in to :)

PsYcHe 2nd April 2015 07:00 PM

It does look in good nick.. Always fancied picking up a 225 that needed some work and turning it into a weekend/track car.. then I went an bought a new car, so that's on hold again :)

brasiliangringo 2nd April 2015 07:02 PM

Just needs some lowering springs and spacers 15mm front and 20mm rear is the best width. (get Delta MICs).

brasiliangringo 2nd April 2015 07:12 PM

Can never remember how to maximise the photos on this forum..

gninnam 2nd April 2015 08:39 PM

Cheers all.

Drives really well (sprightly off the line and when in top at 70 on the motorway and put your foot down, shifts very well).

First mod is internal - bought an X-Carlink unit which will give me USB/SD/iPOD and Bluetooth using the original head unit (oh, it's Bose amps as well)!

Will be looking at lowering and spacers next. It is the BAM engine and feels really torquey, but sometime in the future will look at engine mods.
This weekend will be the X-Carlink and good wash and polish plus double check everything (so up in the air, wheels off and check everything over.

Cheers

Architex_mA8tey 3rd April 2015 08:21 AM

Looks really original and tidy Andy, I prefer the original design to the newer one too, it was so close to the original concept car +++

limoncello 3rd April 2015 09:27 AM

looks good andy, you should have told me though , im sure i have one of those in my boot

During my last post i was actually trying to upload a photo of my old one but long story short my MAC failed and back up, lost the lot, so if anyone is any good at data recover please get in touch. HDD had a knock..

Back to your car, they are night and day after a remap which makes it another beast altogether. There is a chap called Wak over on the TT forum who mapped mine many moons ago and has done other members to good effect and price. Look him up if you want on the TTOC forum. Good place to be.

Cheers and I have seen a few posts by WAK so will bear in mind.
Regarding your Mac, I can't help so soz.

Got the XCarlink fitted - the hardest part for me was getting the HU back in as the new cables are all on the shallowest side so hard to push in, but eventually managed to do it :)

No pics of the process but pics of the end result (just got to feed the BT microphone cable but the wife wanted to use the car so had to stop):

Can fed the iPod/iPhone cable into the glove box - again not difficult:

Works a treat so very pleased :P

Cheers

Beat me to it

Nice car Andy, my SIL is onto her second, if I wasn't so lanky I'd consider one myself

Johnmed 4th April 2015 05:00 PM

How small inside are they? I'm 6'4" and had hoped to one day have one, as a bit of fun...

I'm 6' 7" but it's not so much the headroom that's the problem, it's the contortions to get in and out

Garage that I bought it from, the owner was over 6 ft and 17 stone and he got in and out OK (and he was recovering from a broken foot too).
Rear seats are a joke for any one over 4 ft though but good for storage..

Cheers

Johnmed 4th April 2015 06:59 PM

I've sat in the back of one, funnily enough. Was a no go. Even worse than when I tried to sit in the rear of a Ford Puma!!!

RanjS8 4th April 2015 09:34 PM

Cheers Ranj. How you getting on with the D3?

gninnam 5th April 2015 05:21 PM

Nothing major today - gave the car its first wash under my ownership and plenty of scratches and minor imperfections to deal with over time but scrubbed up OK.
Went over with a clay bar then followed with a polish (some cheap stuff I have in the garage as I have run out of the good stuff) and looking better.
Think next time I will go over it with the DA and get rid of the swirls in the paint.
Oh - and took all the plastic out of the engine bay and gave it a good scrub - looks miles better :)

limoncello 9th April 2016 09:28 AM

how did you manage that

gninnam 9th April 2016 11:51 AM

Yesterday morning, on my way to work was behind a moped rider.
Both stopped as a round-about. Thought she had moved off and hadn't :-(

She was OK but moped rear end was none existent.

Mine goes in on Monday so see what they reckon.

limoncello 9th April 2016 11:54 AM

Good job you wernt in the 8.

No blood involved.............

Johnmed 10th April 2016 07:36 AM

I'd be whacking a used black bumper on that if it was mine. New plate. Boom.

gninnam 10th April 2016 08:55 AM

Looks better than it is to be honest.
Further nosing around and I can see superficial damage to the radiator and also some structure behind the bumper.
Plus, with today's craze for people who have been in an accident to follow up later with other claims for injury, I decided that I would be daft not going through my insurance.

Johnmed 10th April 2016 09:48 AM

That's a shame. Fully understand what you're saying though. Hope it all gets sorted without too much drama.
