Recoding keys needed for gearbox work on A4??
Hi Guys n Gals
Well after nearly 3 weeks there is a vicious roumer that my A4 is almost ready to collect from its repairfest at Audi - part of the work was replacing first and second synchromesh gears on the manual gearbox and I am being told that they need to re-code all my keys . . . so bring along the spare ones when you come. Why would they need to recode the keys for manual gearbox work?? |
Bump! no views? Ben? anyone?
*brushwood rolls across the roads* . . . . . |
Smells a bit fishy to me... Maybe they've reflashed some ECUs and made an arse of keeping the key codes.
Or you're getting someone else's car :) |
... or they muddled your key up, and want a spare one so they can find your original
Defo sounds fishy to me.... ! |
Well I've been in this morning and picked up the car but I had to wait a while to get the other spare keys re-coded. When the car went in it was fine and the key remote unlocked the car but since they worked on it the key fob remote had stopped unlocking the car
Any-ways in the end the did a control>alt>delete reset on their VAGCOM machine and it let them recode all the keys, so all fixed now but I still didn't get any kind of explanation as to why they needed to recode the keys in the first place. I didn't think that disconnecting the battery to do work required a re-code in most cases. Ah well at least it feels like they have fixed all the faults!! *subject to further validation lol |
