Just been on the dyno, and made...

530BHP & 844 NM of torque. :D

Not had a chance to drive the car yet, pick it up tomorrow.

Spec is.

Full Milltek Downpipes
Catback res Milltek
RS2 spark plugs
MRC/ITG high flow air filters
MRC Stage two engine and TCU remap
Sub 4 sec 0-60

I expected the BHP to be a lot higher, at least 540 BHP. But the car was running a diluted mixture of crap fuel/T99, and one of my intercoolers has the slightest leak, which is being fixed.

Pick it up tomorrow. :D

and made...

Us all a little jealous... But then again, I was doing 40mpg for a laugh earlier today :)

Nice torque figure and not a bad power gain on standard turbos.
Would you have to upgrade to hybrids for more power?

Singh 5th April 2012 09:11 PM

Standard turbos will do 550 BHP, you need to change the manifolds to get past that. Amanda's Loba turbos are rated to 650 BHP, but on standard manifolds it's hard/impossible to get past 550 BHP. I would rather spend the money going for the V10 version which go to 700 BHP, 900NM with just a remap then replace internal engine bits. Amanda however loves the C5 so is going for the full 650 BHP. The highest I've seen dyno on standard turbos/manifolds is 558 BHP with the same spec as mine but it also had Wagner intercoolers which are twice as big.

Tesco super unleaded doesn't get the best write up either - generally not well regarded against a proper high octane fuel. Mind you since shell have chosen not to ship v-power at the moment it's a bit tricky to find super anywhere! Filled mine up with 95 as fed up looking for dregs at stations wherever I go!

Power results sound pretty good to me - I'm sure that'll be felt on test drive, along with single figures economy if you use it all lol

Singh 5th April 2012 09:34 PM

Yeah, I hope I can feel the change, my wallet certainly will.
Adrian, Tesco Moumentum 99 is regarded by most on SRS as the best fuel and rated much higher then V Power. Throney Motorsport done a test with that vs V Power and T99 came out much better. Also, MRC have had cars on 95 RON on their dyno then they put in T99 and they get about 20 BHP more.
I have been rocking BP 97, but manages to squeese in £97ish of T99 today, tanker was just leaving with 'Moumentum' written on the side of it as I entered the petrol station.

That's interesting - my recollection of a technical article I read was that the method by which the octane is boosted is more volatile in the Tesco fuel so will go off faster and not be as consistent as fuel brewed with a higher octane in the 1st place. The suggestion being that the Tesco fuel was a 95 octane boosted up with additives rather than a genuine 97-99 octane at the processing stage. I suspect the regularity the tanks get refilled plays a big part, so a slow selling super unleaded will probably have a lower octane than you think you're getting.

Probably all marketing bollocks either way, to be honest, but I generally don't trust supermarket fuels at all unless the car in question pre-dates unleaded!

I suspect 20bhp measured on a dyno won't feel much different when you're pulling figures like these :D

Think this is the link.

Tesco 99 did come out number one, followed by V Power and BP Ultimate is only 97 RON, so I avoid that as owners manual specifies 98 RON as recommended fuel, anything less is ok for emergencies but I should keep revs to a minuim.

The speed is INSANE, the noise is perfect. There is no drone whatsoever at any speed, and driving around town it just burbles, you can't hear it over the radio. If you floor it, it sounds NASCAR, there is no mistaking it for anything but a V8... It sounds like a taxing jet as it approaches you and some sort of possessed thunder as it goes past. As I pulled onto the drive today my sister said 'do you want to make it any louder? I thought there was an earthquake' the speed is insane, you need to hold the steering wheel tight. The new TCU is intresting too, normally it I were cruising in fifth and floored it, the gearbox would drop down a cog or two and the car would launch, this one won't allow it to though as all that torque would destroy the gearbox. It gives you so much more control, Its more like a manual in that respect. I dropped a mate off in town and he said a little girl jumped and grabbed onto her mum when I drove off it was that loud and ferocious, the noise echoes of buildings. It is pure evil when you need it to be, and as civilised as you want too. I'm happy.
