Nav Startup Screen

I read this about a year ago, people were doing this to RNS D units to have a picture of whatever they choose. Anyone any ideas on how to do this?

ou need to download a copy of the firmware for your unit and also a copy of Kolumbia from http://www.navi-projekt.de which then allows you to edit the startup screen, you save the modified firmware and flash your unit. That software also allows you to edit the CD menus for phatbox users or there is an alternative program on there for altering the voice prompts although ive not tried that.
As with all firmware flashing if it goes wrong then your unit usually isnt going to work afterwards.

God bless google :)

Thanks for the link Physce, tried this before posting but get a German error message on download!

PsYcHe 13th July 2009 05:59 PM

Looks like the downloads aren't there anymore (the error is a file not found message).

Having had a good look around, that seems to be the only option...

Though, a guy here has the program, may be worth getting in touch. http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?p=81019

Excellent find!

now where do we find the firmware files? on the nav CD?

and presumably a new CD has to be burnt with the new firmware file?
