OBD port location on FL D2
I'm sure the info is around somewhere, but I've had a good search and can't find it. :Confused:
Where is the OBD port on a Facelift D2? On my PF S8 it's under the front ashtray, but I'm sure I read something that said it was moved...... |
It's below the dash to the right of the steering column as you're sat in the driving seat

Thanks. +++

Right next to the Bonnet release handle.... +++

Well now I actually have an FL D2 I've just got around to running VCDS.
Found an assortment of things, of unknown vintage, so I've cleared them and will see what reappears... :cool: The cleared faults included several (explainable) Alarm triggers plus: 17977 - Cruise Control Switch (E45): Implausible Signal P1569 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent (hardly a surprise :rolleyes: ) 16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0300 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent (Cylinders 2 & 4 listed specifically, I'll see if that reappears) 01119 - Gear Recognition Signal 35-10 - - - Intermittent (ABS section) 00668 - Supply Voltage Terminal 30 53-10 - Supply Voltage Too Low - Intermittent (did have a flat battery at one point) Couple of oddities though: :Confused: 1: HVAC 1 Fault Found: 00734 - Potentiometer in Central Vent (G142) 30-00 - Open or Short to Plus This wouldn't clear. :Confused: I took a guess that this "could" relate to the hot/cold thumbwheel by the 3 top centre vents so wiggled it "aggressively" and tried again. It cleared. +++ 2: Immobilizer No Faults Found or DTCs not supported by controller or a communication error ocurred This communication error was there only sometimes when I queried the controller individually. Is it something to worry about? |
Just for future reference, it is still under the ashtray on some early 99-00 facelift models.
|
I wouldn't worry unduly - probably most of those are old error codes not properly cleared. Mine was full of them when it went into a garage (have the printout somewhere and its a about 7 pages!) but after clearing none have come back
|
They can't be too old. Most codes clear if fault has not appeared after 30 ignition on/off cycles apart from airbags and possibly some other safety features.

When I first move off it often seems rather jumpy almost as if I'm pumping the throttle (I'm not) and when pulling out of a junction I've experienced a lot less power than expected, but only within the first minute or so from cold. It still accelerates, but sluggishly (for an S8). Once warmed up it's totally fine. Any ideas? |
