S8 Exhaust Flaps

As you all probably know by now, my car is fitted with a Milltek exhaust that I think is too loud for me.

I've managed to source a standard exhaust and I'm picking it up later this week (yes, that means the Milltek will be up for sale shortly).

The Milltek doesn't have flaps in the exhaust like the standard exhaust does, so I'm wondering where the electrical connectors to the exhaust flaps connect from? I'm going to have to fish out the connectors from their source to reconnect to the OEM exhaust and I have no idea where to look! :o

If anyone has had an aftermarket exhaust fitted, what did you do with the electrical connectors?

Are they electrical or vacuum? I'll check outside later on but on my B6 S4 they were 100% vacuum operated and it was all to do with the air pressure moving the flaps?!?

I'm very interested in the Milltek by the way...

They are vacuum operated, no elec connections to worry about.

I have wired my open. Sounds just right in my opinion.

Perfect, thanks for the quick response guys. I thought I saw a forum post with electrical connectors on the exhaust, but I must have been mistaken.

Don't worry, the Milltek will be up for sale as soon as the OEM is fitted. +++

OK, another silly question - do the vacuum pipes connect anywhere, or are they just the valves mounted to the tailpipes?

They go to the engine compartment and connect to the rest of vacuum system through electric solenoid valve.

Thanks for the info guys, that's really helpful +++

Funnily enough, that's the thread where I saw the electrical connectors!

I'll have to check to see what they did with my vacuum tubes. I'm hoping they're still sitting around the tailpipe area, ready to be refit. Hopefully, they didn't cut them off or remove them. Fingers crossed!

I jammed open the exhaust valves on the stock exhaust, using fencing wire.
Gives a great rumble from 1000 to 4000 revs, instead of being silent. After 4000 just sounds amazing anyway!!
No fault codes either!

If I ever miss the Milltek, I'll probably do something similar!
