Road trip to Germany and Austria

Have spent the last few days in Bavaria, visting the various car museums at Stuttgart, Ingolstadt and Munich. After this went to Salzburg and from there to Vienna; but stopped off at a town on the way to Vienna :D They must get loads of people stopping...a local drive past us, laughing

I've never visited f**king but I've seen numerous photos of that sign over the years.
Apparently British tourists frequently steal the signs: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/0...ustrian_signs/ The UK has it's fair share of funny place names too: https://www.indy100.com/article/thes...uk--W1at5pZXmW Minge Lane reminds me of one of the late great Kenny Everett's characters ... I believe the story goes that the BBC hadn't realised that his popular character, Cupid Stunt, was a spoonerism for something rather offensive. Once they did realise they insisted he change the character or the name. In response he suggested a new character called Mary Hinge, which they agreed was much better. |
Back from trip - just over 2400 miles in 12 days. Car was perfect and even dealt with a biblical rainstorm with gusto! Average mpg was 34.8mpg - which is fantastic .
The only thing that failed was the headlight bulb at Calais docks; luckily I had a spare. Also clicked up to 100k miles. |
Did a European tour in my 2.8 QS in June and it was a simply superb companion for the trip.
2000+ miles, nicely over 30mpg and simply did it better than many modern cars could manage. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/picture.p...pictureid=1169 |
I attended the German meet at the beginning of August and extended my stay to a fortnight. Cruised a few times at 160mph, bliss.
Going back 30th September for another few days. Using the Chunnel this time £85 single. I'll book the return when I decide to come back. |
