Google Maps

Not sure where to put this because it will affect quite a few models.
I have noticed this week whilst using Navigation that Google Maps is not working.
Everything is greyed out but not invisible on the menu lists.
Bottom right of the MMI screen the "G" of Google is white but the "oogle" is grey.
Anyone else with this problem?
Any ideas?
Pretty please.

Mine is working ok, have you maybe run out of pre-loaded data on the sim card?
The white normally sweeps slowly across the whole word as it loads until it has fully loaded and that can take a few minutes from start up

Thanks Neil.
Hadn't thought of that. I'll see what data plan I have on that sim.

I currently still have 8GB of data available so I think the problem lies elsewhere.

My one was working yesterday Ray so do check your sim.

I can access data such as weather, car park availability and petrol prices without problem. The telephone also works normally. This means that the sim is working correctly for phone and data.

I think that Google maps was running on the cache and not updating as I used the Navigation. I'm thinking this because I was near Manchester Airport a few days back where they have built and opened a new road bypassing Stockport. Whilst driving along it using Google it did not show. Just like when using Audi out of date maps.
Makes me think that the problem lies with Google, maybe server down.
I don't know how any of you could try and test this without clearing your cache and possibly putting you in my boat.
Unless someone knows better.

Have you checked your online licence is valid Ray? They usually expire after 3 years and can be refreshed annually after that by your friendly dealer (FOC)?

Licence?
Didn't know I had one.
Did you mean the "On line data licence"?
I've found it wants to be renewed. I'll have to phone the local stealers.
FOC? Free Of Charge?
That's a price I can afford

Yes, think so. Until last year I just emailed some one at Audi in Germany with the VIN and I'd get another 12 months, this year I got a note back saying the can only accept requests from a local dealer.

Quote:

Please reach out to your local Audi authorized dealership and have them request this on your behalf as we do not process requests sent directly by the customer.

Kind regards

Audi Connect Team
Service department didn't know what to do, but they asked used car sales and the next day it was sorted...... they emailed the bloke in Germany

Thanks for that Paul.
This morning I rang Audi Warrington at 08:00 and they were a bit vague.
At 09:30 they rang me back and after a small chat agreed to email the Connect Team and renew my licence. Said it would take a couple of days so hopefully early next week it will be working again. Hope that is the problem solved.
Will update when something changes.

Collected the attached email from Audi Warrington.
Basically the system is suffering from Corona!!!!!

Poor Adrian, it has been the same guy who replied every year for a long time!

Fingers crossed he is back in the office, or has remote access soon!
