Nurburgring/European tour - Summer 2017

Hello all

Comments/opinions/suggestions please!

A little bird at (deep breath!) BMW Motorrad Park Lane (LDN) has told me a few of them are in the very early stages of arranging an open invite tour of Europe.
Some kind of GT event that over a 4-5 day period winds its way via various nice roads and sights to the Nurburgring and back. Despite being arranged via BMW I believe all makes of the 2 wheeled variety are allowed.

A previous trip taught them that carting 5 days of clothes etc around dampens the experience somewhat, which got me thinking....

Could we offer our services as 'support vehicles' and join in? At the very worst it could simply mean having a bikers rucksack in the boot all day.
We could build a 'shadow' tour that worked alongside, perhaps envolved the 'ring as well?

Anyway, what do you think?

Having just come back from 7 glorious days of continental driving I quite fancy the idea so though I would put it out there.

As an aside... anyone know why Audi have not entered the motorbike market?

Great thinking but I'd rather we organised our own trip rather than tag along like that! several people on here have been to the Nurburgring when we trek over to the the A8 germany meets each year - in fact this year we tried to arrange a tour of the factory that makes A8's and S8's at Neckarsulm and also the Audi Ingolstadt Museum at the same time to make a trip of it but alas they were all closed for their summer hols or the first 3 weeks in August! :(

We did organise a fairly major jaunt over to Ireland after our annual meet this year (which was in south wales) and we covered about 3/4 of the beautiful irish coast line with some great roads and beaches (full reports and vieo to follow as soon as I can get some damn time!! )

The thread starting it was HERE if you want a read +++

Tour ideas are always good, though I'm with Neil (ArchitectM8tey) - and why would we want to offer our superior vehicles as support to a BMW event?. Our tours are better +++

Ok, so that's a no! Just thought I'd ask and thanks for the comments.

Woah! - it was more of a "let's organise our own", rather than a no...;).
Probably worth a read through the prior Nurburgring trip reports on here (if you haven't already) - I've been twice (independently) and the forum trips sound even better - I've just not managed to join one.

As Stephen said, it's not a no at all, it's a lot of organisation to sort those kind of trips and so all the more reason as a group to try and organise something that is centred entirely on what the group wants to do rather than trying to fit around another event or car group - bring on the discussion! +++

Overseas meet

Hi All,

I agree that an A8 trip would be better than a "luggage for others" carry on...

In my experience a group booking for stuff (10 +??) can get stupid discounts (less than half price for admissions to museums). This could be worth looking at for The Ring.... +++

Re crossing the channel I too would be on a boat: no LPG on the Chunnel. :(

Robert

PS If the museum and factory are shut in August then aim for a July date??
