I'm in South Shields staying but the ship has berthed in Tees. I have a hotel till Weds and need to book something else closer, so Middlesbo or similar. Anyone local have some input. I've been told somewhere close to Stockton and I though oow I know a breakers close to there.

I've stayed in the Hampton by Hilton in Stockton on Tees a couple of times, decent place, quite new, earns loyalty points, plenty of car parking if required.

Food isn't to great, but plenty of alternatives within a 5 minute walk, think I walked down to the local Wetherspoons one night, not haute cuisine of course but better than the hotel food and good value.

The locomotion Hotel in Yarn is cheap but comfortable. The food in the pub section was excellent.

Multiple arrests in Stockton today after some "shooting incidents", Dezzy. Don't let that worry you mate, it's not routine type behaviour in that area.

I'm back, for the 3rd time since Dec. Just wanted to say thanks for the advice.
Currently staying in Yarm and can recommend Leboneat for feeding. Obviously not eaten in or been able to try any watering houses.

Try Durham - or Barnard Castle. Both are about the same distance from Yarm - and apparently they're both "in" places to visit these days, even during lockdown

And you're right, Lebaneat is very good - well, the one is Durham is anyway - I had a lovely meal there a while back: great service, lovely food, and very reasonable prices +++

What is this talk of 'places' where you go and eat. I have a vague memory of such things, but was uncertain whether it was a real thing or just a fantasy. Is there an escape from this reality?

Just head for Hackney where my #1 son lives..... ;) Pubs are open too, though their toilets aren't.
